Colleen is a licensed psychologist with 17 years of experience in the mental health field. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Ohio State University in 1988, and a master’s and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Akron in 1992 and 1995, respectively. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at The University of New Hampshire's Counseling Center in 1994-1995. Following the completion of her internship, Colleen became the Director of Counseling and Development at Notre Dame College, a position she held for three years. Currently, Colleen is in her tenth year at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio. Colleen enjoys working with the college population, and she has experience in treating a number of issues including eating concerns, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, sexual orientation, substance abuse, and sexual abuse. She particularly enjoys working with athletes in areas of performance enhancement. Her clinical work is guided by a psychodynamic relational perspective that emphasizes the importance of early developmental influences, and focuses on the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for change.
Eric holds his doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago and completed his internship in professional psychology at the Counseling Center at the University of New Hampshire. He is a licensed psychologist with 12 years of experience working in university counseling, with additional experience in community mental health, inpatient hospital, and private practice settings. Eric enjoys helping students overcome the unique challenges and obstacles they face during their college years. He has strong clinical interests and experience in the areas of anxiety and stress, relaxation/meditation, sexual orientation issues, diversity issues, and working with survivors of abuse and trauma. Additionally, Eric has presented psychoeducational workshops and lectures on a number of topics including, but not limited to, understanding and managing anxiety and stress, relaxation and meditation, and assertiveness and effective communication skills. He is also very active in sexual assault prevention on campus and in educating men about their roles in preventing sexual assault and other forms of gender violence.
Emily holds a master’s degree in counseling from Indiana University and is currently completing her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University at Albany-SUNY. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Akron’s Counseling, Testing and Career Center. Emily is in her fourth year at Ohio Wesleyan University. Emily enjoys assisting college students as they confront the challenges of this exciting time of personal growth. She has a strong clinical interest and experience in alcohol and other drug abuse prevention, early intervention, and treatment. Emily’s other clinical interests include depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, eating and body image concerns, self-esteem, sexual abuse, and identity development. Her clinical work is guided by interpersonal, developmental and feminist perspectives, and she regularly employs motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral strategies in her therapeutic work. Vicki S. Blommel, SWA Vicki is a licensed social work assistant in the state of Ohio and has more than 20 years’ experience working with adults and children with mental health concerns. She specializes in crisis responses, which include the suicide prevention, drug/alcohol prevention, sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. Before coming to OWU Counseling Services, Vicki was on staff as the Prevention/Training Coordinator for HelpLine, Delaware’s 24-hour crisis hotline. At HelpLine Vicki was responsible for training hotline volunteers and coordinating HelpLine’s community outreach and prevention programming. Vicki has completed her seventh year at OWU Counseling Services and finds great satisfaction in being able to assist college students.
